Old age is a time to treasure. But for some older people it is a time for tears. No one talks much about elder abuse. If you know of an older person being harmed in any way, talk to someone you trust. If they don’t do anything, tell someone else until someone listens and takes action. A trained professional can often look into the situation. Find out what help is available and take that information back to the senior.

The Elder Abuse Response and Referral Service refers complex elder abuse cases to the Consultation Team, a group of experts from many fields including Law Inforcement, Legal Services, Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee, Geriatric Psychiatry, Nursing, Domestic Violence, Interfaith, Banking, Neuropsychology, Education, Social Work, and Community Care Access Centre. Service providers have access to the Consultation Team through the Elder Abuse Response and Referral Service.

The Ottawa Elder Abuse Response and Referral Service is located at the Nepean, Rideau & Osgoode Community Resource Centre: 1642 Merivale Road Suite 541 (Merivale Mall), Ottawa, ON K2G 4A1.

Funded by the Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode Community Resource Centre and the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre.

Supported by The Council on Aging of Ottawa, the Ottawa Police Service, and the Ontario Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse.
