Dear Friends,
Your ICCC Board and I are looking forward to your active participation at the SGM on Saturday, the 23rd of June 2018.
Briefly, the SGM deliberations will include two key items:
1. Targets and a plan of action for the Community Hubs (Virtual Hub, Spiritual Hub, Sports Hub, and the Physical Hub) for 2018-19 and the following years.
2. Board’s Resolutions for proposed amendments to ICCC By-Laws and capital budget requirements.
It was agreed at the 21st April 2018 AGM that the Board would call a Special General Body Meeting (SGM) in about 45 days because these items could not be fully and properly addressed due to time constraints.
You are kindly requested to review in full “The President’s Report to the AGM-21 April 2018” on the website icccottawa.org. It now includes “Part 2: Looking Forward” presented at the AGM. Earlier you had only received Part 1 which primarily reported on the following;
1. Vision & Mission – “Theme – Building ICCC Brand & Profile”
2. Communication program – “Theme – Making Connections”
3. Hubs for the Community – “Theme – Building multiple venues for community meeting places.”
4. Programs and Community Partnerships – “ Theme – Making Connections-Building Bridges”
5. Funding of ICC Programs and Operations.
Your Board greatly appreciates the Members’ continued interest and support. We crave for a wider participation of our Members at the AGMs and SGMs.
You may be interested in knowing that ICCC has launched the following initiatives:
1. ‘ICCC History’ documentation project: The aim of this project is to record the progressive history of ICCC since inception (1973). Work has already begun. It will be completed only with the input and active participation of all past presidents and board members in providing their recollections on the accomplishments during their term. A professional writer may assist in the completion of this project.
2. Asian Heritage Month: ICCC participated in the Asian Heritage Month (May 2018) celebrations at the Parliament Hill.
3. Participation and collaboration with the community: ICCC is pursuing its programs and activities (Seniors, SNOW, Compassionate Ottawa, Youth Scholarships, ICCC Portal/Virtual Hub, etc,) and is collaborating with:
a. High Commission of India for the International Yoga Day on 17th June 2018 (500+ attendance);
b. MSMF Annual Picnic for Charity Fund Raising (500+ attendance) on June 16th;
c. The Air India 182 Memorial Service at the Commissioners park near Dows Lake on June 23 at 6:00 PM.
d. Other community associations and organizations at various picnics and events during summer months.
Regards.
